my 'two cents'
As both a Petra fan as well as a fan of modern music, I can honestly say this album has more downs then ups, but the ups are astounding. I like to end in a positive note, so I'll get the downs out of the way quickly. "Louie's Solo". This wasn't even a Petra song. It has a very annoying sample introducing Louie that gets really old really fast. To my suprise, "Road To Zion".. Leigh has a beautiful voice, but it sounds like she was straining to make the notes on this song. Bring her voice down a few keys and it'd be ear candy. The cover of "the Coloring Song" is seriously a disgrace to the original. I've never heard a more agonizing song in my life. I've never been too fond of "Yahweh Love", so obviously I dislike the cover -- that's not Sarah Jahn's fault, I guess though. Positive Highlights : Jars of Clay do an astounding job with "Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows". If you like MxPx, you'll love their cover of "I Can Be Friends With You"; If you dislike MxPx and love Petra, you'll probably be disgusted. Galactic Cowboys' rendition of "Not Of This World" changes the atmosphere of the song, but I tend to like it more then the original. Last, but definatly not least Plankeye's covor of "All The King's Horses" is remarkable. I'm not saying that just 'cause I'm a Plankeye junkie, either. :) Few covers capture the aura of the song better then the original.. this is one of them. As for the remaining tracks, they're not BAD, but just nothing to flaunt about, either. END TRANSMISSION.
